Somalia's new Prime minister has appointed his cabinet as the country tries to establish its first fully functioning government after eight years of transitional rule. Abdi Farah Shirdon announced the appointments of 10 cabinet ministers, downsizing the executive from the previous government. He said his government would restore security and rebuild Somalia’s economy. Shirdon also appointed two female ministers, including the first female Foreign Minister, Fowziya Yusuf Aden. The cabinet - which is mainly composed of new faces - still needs to be approved by parliament. RFI spoke to Abdi Samatar, a Somali political analyst, about the prospects of the new cabinet.
