In China former Chongqing police chief Wang Lijun was sentenced to 15 years in prison Monday for defection and other crimes. Wang was the the right-hand man of Chongqing party secretary Bo Xilai. He fled to the US consulate in Chengdu in February, sparking a crisis that resulted in Bo Xilai being stripped from his politburo position and his wife being found guilty of murder. Sinologist Michael Dillon has been following the latest fights in China's power struggle on the eve of a party congress that will define a new leadership.
