Fame at last! François Hollande on show at Madame Tussauds

François Hollande made his appearance at London’s Madame Tussauds waxworks museum this week. The representation of the French president was the work of 20 sculptors, plus make-up artists and hairdressers, and cost 190,000 euros to make.

Dressed in a grey suit, blue tie and black shoes, the waxwork Hollande went on show when its original had spent 100 days in office.

The outfit is the same as the one he wore on the day he took office.

Hollande did not pose for the effigy – he didn’t have the time – and was made from photos and videos that the museum had archived.

The French president appears close to waxworks of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister David Cameron. It is not known whether they have discussed the eurozone crisis.

His predecessor, Nicolas Sarkozy, has now been confined to Madame Tussauds warehouse.
