Alessandra Galié, an Italian researcher, has been working for the past five years in north-west Syria on a programme developed by the International center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas. It's aimed at improving food security in rural areas. Because of the security situation in Syria, she and her foreign co-workers have had to pull out - temporarily they hope.
